Where Your WePAC Membership Dues Go

WePAC membership fees will support the following WePAC goals:

  1. Political Research for Endorsing Women Leaders
  2. Lobbying for National Legislation for Women’s Issues
  3. Building a “Women’s Unity” Coalition with Many Women’s Organizations
  4. Creating National Training Institute for Upcoming Women Leaders

WePAC members also receive the following benefits:

  1. The WePAC National Annual Conference Invitation
  2. Action Alerts for all Members
  3. Opportunities for Committee Work at the Board Level

Explanation of Benefits:

  1. As a member of WePAC, your membership fees will support WePAC’s Political Research Committee. The results of the committee’s research will be the basis for WePAC’s endorsements and will be available on its website and will help women to vote in their own interest and in the interest of their children. At WePAC, we believe that it is actions, not simply words or campaign promises that count. Our political research will concentrate on what candidates have actually done in their public work to solve the problems that women face. A WePAC candidate rating or endorsement will explain exactly why WePAC feels this candidate should be elected or not elected. See WePAC criteria (insert link) for endorsing candidates.
  2. As a member of WePAC, your membership fees will also be going toward developing and working for national legislation that will end all types of discrimination against women. WePAC’s Legislation Committee will work with members of Congress and, in some cases, state legislators, to develop bills that support women’s issues. Not only will your fees go to support the work of that committee, but your input will be requested. We will send you surveys where you can make suggestions for issues and rate the issues that you believe should be priorities.
  3. As a member of WePAC, your membership fees will be going to assist us in our commitment to work in coalitions with other groups. Specifically, your support will help us organize the Women’s Unity Meeting in the six months following the 2008 election. We will be inviting every women’s group to send at least two delegates. At that meeting, we will work on creating a strong umbrella organization that puts women and women’s issues first, not party politics.
  4. As a member of WePAC, your membership fees will also be going towards a long term goal of creating National Training Institutes that will a) help develop young women leaders across the country and b) develop training programs to educate media professionals and political party leadership on identifying and rooting out sexism.
  5. As a member of WePAC you will be invited to an annual conference of WePAC where speakers will be addressing the WePAC membership. All members will be welcome at this important yearly event.
  6. As a member of WePAC, you will be notified of important actions to stop sexism or support positive on behalf of women that can be taken in response to either current events or legislative activity. All members who choose to will receive WePAC Rapid Response Action Alerts.
  7. As a member of WePAC, you can join in the work of committees and join a blog or listserve for that committee. For example, one of our initial campaigns is to change the caucus system in the Democratic Party. WePAC’s Election Fairness Committee will be organizing people to work both nationally with the DNC and with Democrats in every state with a Caucus rather than a primary to change this system. This committee will organize letter writing campaigns and will lobby DNC members and will work with local party organizations to select candidates committed to fairness in elections.

For those members who contribute at higher levels, below are some additional benefits they will receive:
